Dr. Pedro Más-Bermejo, a Senior Research Scientist at the Tropical Medicine Institute ‘€œPedro Kourí” will present a talk “Transformation in the Cuban Health System, 2010-2015.”

Dr. Más-Bermejo will describe the evolution of basic indicators of health services, human resources, and infrastructure, starting with a general account of processes under way since the mid-1990s aimed at Cuban health sector recovery and focused on improving quality of service, system efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining equity. Using this background, a description will be provided of objectives and essential elements of transformations currently under way in the national health system since 2010 based on processes of reorganization, consolidation and regionalization of services.

Pedro Más-Bermejo, MD, PhD, is a physician with dual specialties in epidemiology and public health. He is a Senior Research Scientist at the Tropical Medicine Institute ‘€œPedro Kourí‘€, member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences and Full Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the National School of Public Health (Medical University of Havana). He graduated from Central University in Cuba and trained in Epidemiology.
