Cimafunk is the most unique emerging artist from Cuba’s alternative music scene. A singer, composer, and producer, his music is a fusion of American funk, R&B and Cuban rhythms. Recently named as Top 10 Latin Artist to Watch in 2019, by Billboard, Cimafunk broke attendance records at Cuba’s most important venues and his music has energized the island’s musical landscape. At a recent performance at SXSW Cimafunk and his band were described as “a perfect mash up of Cuban music and James Brown with a big dose of Parliament Funkadelic.”

Join us for an engaging interview with this innovative artist moderated by Professor Dan Sharp, Chair of the Department of Music.
